Education

Education

In 2021, we launched our WhyOhYou programme, a 5 week personal development journey that provides youth aged between 15-18 years old with the space and tools to explore who they are, what they want and how to achieve it.

“I think that the whyohyou programme has helped me because it has helped me to think more positively when some things don’t go my way. It has also helped me to not let my emotions get in the way of my education as I have taken journaling as a way to express my emotions.”

“It gave me a different perspective on how to look about my future goals what I should\can do to achieve them.”

RedSTART is a financial education charity that is delivering financial education to primary school children in some of the UK's most disadvantaged communities.

The charity's work is responding to 3 major trends in society: rising income inequality, reducing levels of financial literacy and a shift of responsibility for financial security from the state to the individual. Financial habits and beliefs set in when we are young so the charity believes that educating children early gives them the best possible start to their financial futures.

Alongside programme delivery, the charity is also gathering data for a longitudinal study that hopes to provide evidence on the importance of financial education to this age group. Data from the study will be used to advocate for financial education to be brought into the curriculum nationwide.

We are supporting Redstart with an ongoing unrestricted grant.
Young Harrow Foundation is a membership organisation that supports over 200 voluntary organisations based in the Borough of Harrow to thrive.

We are proud to be supporting the Young Harrow Foundation’s Holidays Activities & Food (HAF) Programme.

Set up by the Department for Education (DfE), the HAF Programme provides underprivileged youth in Harrow the opportunity to engage in activities and enjoy a hot meal during the holidays. Currently, only those on Free School Meals (FSM) are eligible to join the programme under the DfE’s funding criteria. We are providing additional funding which will enable local charities to onboard children who fall outside the FSM threshold but are still in just as much need.
Renaissance Foundation inspires young people facing various serious challenges to fulfil their unique potential. They focus exclusively on two hard-to-reach groups: young carers and young patients suffering from life-long/life-limiting illnesses.

At it's core, the charity runs a three-year holistic programme of inspirational and career visits, sessions with role models, practical skills workshops and digital and filming projects. It follows a progression that promotes the autonomy of young people at an early stage and encourages them to become role models for their younger peers in the final year. The highlight of the programme is a 4-day cultural exchange trip to attend the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo, Norway.

Since 2021, we have been helping Renaissance Foundation to support the personal development of their young people through our WhyOhYou Programme.

We also provide the charity with an annual unrestricted grant.
In 2021, we launched the DVS Awards to support teachers in recognising and rewarding Year 12 students for their success over the school year. Our belief is that success should not only be centred around academic achievements. Success should incorporate progress, effort, resilience and many other factors, and the programme allows teachers to highlight this. We believe the programme is particularly advantageous for Year 12 students, as it marks a pivotal transition into adulthood.

Each school decides their own 10 Award categories and the 10 respective winners.

The Awards are presented in an end of year assembly with each winner being gifted with a certificate and a £100 gift voucher.
